The Eagle has landed

By that, I mean, that Keith Dewsnup has started my first proper blog. I was inspired to start this blog by Coupe De Ville, who are a great band who I have had the pleasure of working with in 2010 and hope to work closely with in the future? Back to the Future you could say?

Anyway, that and the fact that this is my last day working for People’s Voice Media as part of the Future Jobs Fund and Work Solutions.

I can honestly say it’s been a……………..nightmare!!!!

It started off badly and went downhill from there.

When I started working for People’s Voice Media I had already been a volunteer with them for about two years. I found them via Sencia and Kevin Eccleston and have been coming ever since and worked on a variety of projects with them, including Guerilla Busking, Old Streets, New Mornings and Manchester International Festival 2009 where I met Marina Abramovic and hold her personally responsible for me not starting this blog and setting up my own company a lot sooner. As she taught me to slow down, and breathe properley.

I have been battling depression for many years now and could have done with a lot more support from Work Solutions and People’s Voice Media whilst in their employment, the attitude of my colleagues didn’t help either. I’ve learnt a lot of lessons from all this and managing my temper is definately one of them.

I spent my final day covering an anti-bullying conference here at the Innovation Forum which I thouroughly enjoyed. I made lots of contacts. Did plenty of networking. Saw some great seminars and performances. Unfortunately missed the play written produced and performed by Salford High School students, which I am reliably informed was a show stopper, all about homophobia. But I did catch the choir from St Augustine’s C.E which stole the show for me. Although Atomic Alison from Mad Science came a close second ;)

I got lots of audio interviews with the main people who organised the event and lots of photos and video footage aswell. Which I now have to edit, so I really should run along now.

Anyway, nice talking to you all :)

(Don’t worry they’ll get better with time and practice, a journey of a thousand miles and all that)
